Master Hai

Reverend Thich Thong Hai. Master Hai is the Founder, Abbott of the Ventura Buddhist center. Dazzle in the brilliance of this venerable monk of over 4 decades. Learn of his life, the teachings of Buddha and how to incorporate it into the modern day rush of urban living. His only message is the message of compassion, courage and wisdom. Master Hai is a traveling monk but his presence, love and smile forever dwell in our hearts. It is a unique privilege to share every moment in his graceful presence.

He was ordained at the age of 16 and rose against the communist when south Viet Nam was attacked. He went to prison for his principles. He fled a war torn nation, rode the ocean on a boat with no engines. He saved the lives of the people on his boat from attacking pirates only through divine grace and miracle of the higher power which we are all aware of . While in refugee camps and barely knowing any language besides his mother tongue he built two temples in the refugee settlements. Upon landing on the shores of the USA, it is in awe one learns of his live of trials and tribulations. His camping in a forest, living in a pick up truck, his being a student at the hawaiian university and so much more. Until now he has travelled to 60 countries and find immense joy in calling Hawaii his home.

He is truly the awakened one, the Buddha to me. When you are graced by his smile, you will know what I mean.
